The FDA has approved Boehringer Ingelheim’s Nerandomilast (Jascayd, BI-101555) for patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) a rare, serious, and progressive lung disease with no cure and limited treatment options. Mechanistically, Nerandomilast is a potent and selective inhibitor of phosphodiesterase type 4B (PDE4B). PDE4 inhibitors have been developed for various inflammatory diseases. This is the first new therapeutic approved for IPF in more than ten years.
