GC376 (1416992-39-6) is a potent, reversible, covalent inhibitor of 3C- and 3C-like (3CLpro) proteases.1 It is a bisulfite adduct of GC373 (an aldehyde) thus it is a prodrug and is converted to the active aldehyde form under aqueous conditions.2 It is a broad-spectrum agent effective against many human and animal viruses including coronavirus and norovirus3 and others. GC376 is a promising candidate for further development as a SARS-CoV-2 therapeutic agent.4
