FOCUS on Bioactive Natural Products. In a February Nature Communications paper, Wang and coworkers showed that a sesquiterpenoid found abundantly in ginger, known as furanodienone, alleviated gut inflammation in a mouse model. They went on to show that furanodienone acted selectively as an agonist at the nuclear receptor PXR (Pregnane X Receptor). Orally administered furanodienone displayed potent PXR-dependent antiinflammatory activity that was colon-specific.
Focus Biomolecules can supply many natural products for research applications. Contact us for more information on furanodienone.
