Marimastat (154039-60-8) is an orally bioavailable inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinases (IC50’s: MMP-1 = 5 nM, MMP-2 = 6 nM, MMP-3 = 200 nM, MMP-7 = 20 nM, MMP-8 = 2 nM, MMP-9 = 3 nm, MMP-14 = 1.8 nM).1 It has been used to alter the extracellular matrix of the tumor microenvironment in various liposomal3,4 and nano-platforms5-7 along with other therapeutic agents.
