A team headed by distinguished neuroscientist Alcino Silva recently showed that expression of C-C chemokine receptor type 5 (CCR5) expression reduced memory recall, and maraviroc (Focus Cat.# 10-4260), a CCR5 antagonist, improved memory in ageing mice. Maraviroc is an FDA approved AIDS therapeutic with the potential to be repurposed for use in early memory loss.
