MIF20 (1191288-81-9) is a macrophage inhibitory factor (MIF) agonist (2.5 fold increase in MIF bound to its receptor @ 500 nM).1 It augments MIF-dependent AMPK signaling and limits ischemic cardiac injury. MIF20 protected the heart from ischemia-reperfusion injury via MIF-mediated activation of AMPK.2 It decreased infarct size and preserved systolic function. MIF20 also augments protective metabolic responses by reducing the NADH/NAD ratio leading to a decrease in the accumulation of reactive oxygen species.
