Minoxidil (38304-91-5) is a direct antihypertensive peripheral vasodilator acting via activation of KATP channels leading to relaxation of smooth muscle.1 Active metabolite is minoxidil sulfate (IC50 = 0.14 μM). Minoxidil is mainly used as a treatment for alopecia because of its observed hair regrowth ability.2
