FOCUS on new drug approvals. On February 12th the FDA granted approval for Acrotech Biopharma’s Difamilast (Adquey) for mild to moderate atopic dermatitis. The approval marks a significant advancement in dermatology care, providing the first nonsteroidal agent for treating this chronic inflammatory skin condition. Difamilast is a phosphodiesterase 4 (PDE4) inhibitor formulated as a 1% topical ointment. The drug inhibits all PDE4 subtypes and offers a new therapeutic approach for managing the inflammation and pruritis of eczema.
