Focus on Natural Products: Celebrating the birthday of Satoshi Omura (July 12). Omura is well known for his work on the isolation and structure identification of hundreds of natural products produced by microorganisms. In 2015, he received the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine jointly with William C. Campbell for their work on the discovery of the Avermectins and Ivermectin, which are highly effective anti-parasitic drugs.
